VMware announced on Tuesday that it plans to acquire AtherPal remote support provider in an effort to strengthen its ONE workspace platform.
The key service of AtherPal allows IT administrators to remotely view, control, troubleshoot and fix devices and apps used in the field. Financial terms of the deal have not been communicated.
VMware noted that since 2017 it has been working with AtherPal to resell its support platform as the ONE Advanced Remote Management Service.
VMware intends to further integrate the service into the digital workspace platform and extend the service to more operating systems and cases of use.
“We continue to invest in internal innovation efforts to develop the unified endpoint management capabilities of Workspace ONE while also exploring opportunities to increase through the acquisition of technologies and talent where necessary, “said Shekar Ayyar, EVP Strategy and Corporate Development at VMware.
” This strategy has and will continue to help us deliver the leading digital workspace platform in the industry. “Upon closing the deal, the AtherPal team will join the endpoint user computing team of VMware.
